We are in the midst of what the CDC characterizes as a major public health crisis – the spiraling epidemic of drug addiction in America.

The scary question is, “Can it get any worse?”

Sadly – newly released data shows it is.

In 2016, there was a 19% increase in drug overdose deaths over the prior year.  And 2015 was a record.

The new death rate stands at 62,000 Americans a year.  That is more American fatalities than U.S. lives lost during the entire Vietnam War.

The leading cause?

You guessed it.  Opioid drugs.

Did you know that almost a third of all adults in the U.S. were prescribed opioid drugs in 2016?

That’s approximately 100 million people.

Incredible – right?

So we’d like to ask this very important question…  How in God’s name is that possible???

It’s possible because the drug companies keep pushing these profitable drugs, and physicians remain addicted to prescribing them – despite knowing they are among the most dangerous drugs on earth.

Another chilling stat?

Drug overdoses are now the leading cause of death in those under 50 years of age.

Here’s the bottom line… This problem is massive in scope, and only a concerted effort by everyone involved will stem this deadly tide.  And it starts with medical professionals.  They simply must learn to rely on other, safer treatment options when treating pain.  To do otherwise is both cruel and irresponsible.
