It’s a new day for alcohol and drug recovery in Georgia for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield members. Aware Recovery Care is now providing its unique in-home addiction treatment program to individuals living in the greater Atlanta area.
Aware’s treatment program is available as an in-network outpatient benefit for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employee Program members. No authorization or referral is needed.
Georgia has had its fair share of drug abuse, like the rest of America. According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, “opioid-involved overdose deaths have been rapidly increasing in Georgia since 2010, driven largely by increased use and misuse of prescription opioids. From 2019 to 2021, Emergency department visits and hospitalizations for drug overdoses increased 10%, from 24,886 to 27,388.”
Aware’s goal for the area is to help reduce the number of people struggling with addiction to drugs and/or alcohol with a research-proven, in-home addiction treatment program that is unique in the nation.

Aware now operates in eleven states (ME, NH, MA, RI, CT, VA, GA, FL, OH, IN, KY) and is poised for further expansion in partnership with established national and regional payors, employers, and other stakeholders.
