The role of the Family Education Facilitator is to ensure that the families, loved ones and allies living with or supporting an Aware Recovery Care client are educated, informed and supported throughout the recovery process. Family Education Facilitators deliver the four-part curriculum of the Family Education Program to individuals who wish to engage and are given permission to participate by the ARC client.
Family Education Liaison
Duties & Responsibilities:
Demonstrate fidelity to the Aware Recovery Care model and Family Education Program through effective understanding and delivery of the four-part curriculum.
Track family assignments, contact, and other necessary data in Excel.
Complete all necessary Progress Notes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) related to Family Education sessions and phone calls.
Attend the weekly Family Wellness Meeting
Working knowledge of family recovery resources: books and other materials, local and national support groups, etc.
Provide updates as-necessary to the Family Education Liaison or the Family Wellness Director for higher-level questions/concerns
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Human Services, or Drug and Alcohol Counseling
If a current Aware Recovery Care Employee:
Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of employment with Aware
Candidate must be approved by current supervisor and be in good standing (confirmed by HR)
For External Candidates:
6 months to 1 year minimum experience working with families in the substance use field
High Emotional Intelligence
Ability to work in a team-based environment
Strong communication skills within the team and overall organization
Ability to demonstrate empathy towards client family members and loved ones while maintaining healthy boundaries
Knowledgeable about family recovery, 12-step programs, alternative sober support groups, and substance use field overall
Urine Drug Screen competed following manufacturer instructions
Hand hygiene (Staff member washes hands properly, following ARC and CDC standards)
Proper use of Service Delivery Kit (following infection control protocol, using barrier appropriately)
Review Infection Control Policy
Review Emergency Operations Policy
Review and sign job description
Complete Drugs of Abuse module (screening for intoxication and withdrawal symptoms)
Complete Ethics module
Timekeeping & Punching:
All non-exempt employees are required to use the timekeeping system to record their hours worked. Non-exempt employees are required to clock in/out for time off and other leave tracking purposes.
Employees should clock in no sooner than five minutes before their schedule shift and clock out no later than five minutes after their scheduled shift. Additionally, employees are required to clock in/out for their designated lunch periods. The length of the lunch period should have the agreement of the employee’s manager. Lunch periods are unpaid time when employees are relieved of all duties.
Waiver of the lunch period requires prior approval of the employee’s manager. Under no circumstance may the waiver of the lunch period result in overtime work.
Should an employee miss an entry into the timekeeping system, the employee will notify their manager as soon possible for correction. Employees may not ask another employee to clock in/out for them.
Accurate time reporting is a federal and state wage and hour requirement, and employees are required to comply. Failing to enter time into the timekeeping system in an accurate and timely manner is unacceptable job performance.
Non-exempt employees are not permitted to work overtime or unscheduled time without prior authorization from their manager. This includes clocking in early, clocking out late, or working through the scheduled lunch period.
